What? Even in a fairly warm house in the South-East a freezer-load of food stays frozen while a freezer defrosts - just keep it reasonably well together and insulated. Add some freezer blocks if you're concerned.

You don't know how to defrost

The frost wasn't in the visible storage area; it was ICE behind some plastic trim which hid the fan (and jammed it, hence the problem I think) and some other workings. Even with the aid of a hot water bottle and a fan heater, it was an overnight job to defrost it properly! Enough time for food to defrost. I don't mind taking chances with frozen veg by re-freezing it, but not with prawns/chicken.

Freecycle it, stating the fault

It's actually being taken away by John Lewis for a small fee. Probably to be fixed and sold on by the van driver for a massive profit.

Keep it out of Inverclyde..
I'm watching

The place is a cowp anyway, who would notice?

Pensioner farm, if you don't mind.
Does one wish for me to explain why one might need a working fridge freezer to keep one's langoustines and lobster in? It's a bit like the stuff Port people get in Farmfoods or Iceland with their giro (once they've bought the essentials like a litre o' Buckie), only it contains some nutrition! :okay:

It's a bit more complicated than that...

Crikey. What temperature do you keep your house at? Tropical?

When I lived in the then thriving holiday town,
we got fresh seafood direct from the trawlers..

One also got fresh shellfish/crab from prime locations on the shore..

One must head down sometime and see what's left..

as for buckie?
I can remember no one would drink the stuff here in the Port..
you cannot beat a chilled schooner of Eldo Clear IMHO:okay:

I had a Gorenje for 8 years now, nothing has ceased to function or snapped off, I rate it, I wanted a Smeg but they are taking the piss with prices.

This reminds me of a conversation i had a couple of years ago. My parents have a Miele fridge/freezer which needed repairing under warranty. A conversation ensued with a family member:

Me: Miele doesn't work.
Her: Really? I didn't think Mieles broke down.
Me: Oh? What makes you say that?
Her: Its made with special parts that don't break down.
(I kid you not, she really said that, and she meant it).
Me: More sushi?
