Just had a call from Patricia Hewitt's office - our local MP - she wants to come down to see us a week on Friday.

Last week we got a letter from Alan Johnson the Health Minister.

Summat must be cooking.

I think she's moving in, Rog. Has her office on the A50 been vandalised again?

"...Hewitt also caused controversy when she criticised mothers who care for their children themselves. A 2003 report by the Women and Equality unit which was run by Hewitt stated that there was a "real problem" with mothers who stayed at home to bring up their children."

Wouldn't touch her with a bargepole.

Right, so our local MP, a former health minister and someone with a lot of influence wants to come and talk to us to see how she can help a totally self funding community project grow....and that's a bad thing?

How much will she want to help a man with a community project, especially if there are children involved

Further evidence of sexism by Hewitt arose in publication she authored in 1995 titled Transforming Men, where she questioned the very notion of "whether we can trust men with children". She came to the conclusion that it may well be necessary to introduce the practice of "not leaving men on their own with groups of children" in environments such a schools in order to prevent abuse.
