I spent £150 on new loudspeaker grilles.

They are big old speakers, over twenty years old in fact, and they left the factory with sculpted foam grilles. Over time these grilles break up so end up looking very tired or only fit for the bin. Most people fit cloth grilles on frames or flat black foam but I wanted to keep the look of the original CNC machined foam ones so bought a reproduction set from Korea.

I had the cloth in the house and could have made a set of cloth grilles for nothing. Totally barking, at least my wife thinks so.

I did that on my birthday. Didn't get anything else.

Next year I'll buy you a 5B if I know when it is. Were yours 2H?

Thanks. :cold:
I got two 2H, a 3H, a 4H for marking wood and a 2B for writing on wood, the usual range I ask my students to have. WH Smiths were selling them for 5p each so I only spent 25P for my birthday.

I went past there today without going in and paid twenty eight p for mine somewhere else

I think it's the combination of the paper and a soft pencil that I'm not used to but it might temporarily be the future to have a play with 5B's.

I have a box with a full range of pencils from 6H to 6B kept safe just for drawing with.

Good paper is a must to make the best of the pencils.

I don't play about with any paper much but am doodling a bit on a Rhodia squared pad and it's very smooth with the pencils.
Just need to find it in A2 sizes.

Edit: 6B would be even better!

A 'pointless' purchase?

We've just ordered a remote control fart machine. Grandma is here and we're looking forward to trying it out on her.

I keep my large calendars for doodling on the reverse of the picture. That might be too glossy for afficionados tho'.

Having stared financial ruin in the face no purchase is ever frivolous and is always carefully considered, no matter what it costs. However I am a sucker for DKNY, so will happily spend money on it, knowing its very well made, looks great and will last a long time. Also cheap make up and perfume is a no-no. It's clinique or better...

Have you got remote control with it?

This assumes you can get your c*r in your garage.

Got remote control with it. It's grrrreat! Car is in the garage now awaiting all this forecast snow. Still a fair few inches lying from before Christmas.
