"Made from over 100 years of BFI archive footage, From the Sea to the Land Beyond offers a poetic meditation on Britain's unique coastline and the role it plays in our lives. With a soundtrack specially created by Brighton-based band British Sea Power, award-winning director Penny Woolcock's film offers moving testimony to our relationship to the coast - during wartime, on our holidays and as a hive of activity during the industrial age."

Thanks for that. Living here on the wrong side of the North Sea i miss quality British tv. (Just discovered the modern Sherlock Holmes series. And very good it is too.)

Anyone know how to access iPlayer from overseas? How does one go about the 'proxy server' thingummijig?

You need access to a VPN, a couple of friends of mine who live in Europe check out iplayer using this method, I'll have a look and see if I can find their simple instructions.

In the meantime, have you tried tvcatchup.com? Not sure if that's VPN dependent, but it's effectively a freeview box on the internet.

Edit:
Here you go - costs 6 dollar a month, cheaper than a license fee I suppose - friends in Ireland and Denmark use it.

Looks good, I'll watch that. The Storyville strand is quality.

I saw one the other night about French Pastrychefs competing for their ultimate accolade. Fascinating stuff. I liked the way they weren't afraid to have include a sequence watching a chef make sugar ribbons (like working with glass), with no commentary, no music, just watching a man doing something, totally absorbed in it.
