I'm looking for a front mech for my Dawes as I have found the one I was trying to fit,the spring mechanism is bust making it useless..Possibly I could pop round Evans with the Mech but would probably prefer to order it off of Ebay.

It's a clamp on but not really sure which would be the correct one to buy off of flea-pit.It's the original changer (Shimano Tiagra) from 2006..No other numbers but all I can get from the original build is-Shimano FD-4403 Triple chainset.(Although it's only a double chainset now the Mech did work with the newly overhauled Chain Set.AFAIR.

Thanks in anticipation.

On thinking about it I also probably need a new mech for the rear as it wont change to the lowest cog on the rear but works the other eight gears fine.I'm not sure what cage it is (as in pic) but would I need medium or high? Cheers.

Found this on the same page but the rear mech looks shorter than this and I think it may be the problem. Can't remember whether it was changed on last overhaul.

23/21/19/17 and 16 and the first five cogs,23 can't get chain on to with rear mech.As far as I can make out front big cog is 46.

Most Shimano front mechs for the appropriate speed and double chainrings will work, as will a triple mech, similar to the original. A triple mech will be a bit more expensive.

Ah,thanks for the reply.I was a bit baffled by the ebay listing.

Think I won't bother with the rear mech at this time as im happy with 8 gears instead of 9.
