I'm really anchoring for a disc roadie for winter use.

What's that pinnacle like your busting out the miles on???

It's ok mate. Nothing really special. It does the job for the commute. It's not too heavy and can shift, I'll give it that.

I bought a Synapse 105 disk in April/May and have put 1500 or so miles on it at a guess, maybe a few more. Like it a lot but it was my first road bike (sitting next to a Sirrus disk) so I can't give much comparison info. Haven't had any problems with it, have changed the wheels (apparently the Maddox's are the biggest budget bit on the bike) which made a difference although I found they become 'how it normally feels' quite quickly. The Maddox's are on the Sirrus and still working well (it's still getting it's fair share of miles I do around 120 a week on average). I rode it side by side with a disk Specialized and while the Specialized accelerated quicker the Synapse felt more planted and nicer to climb with so that's the one I bought. I'd have another one quite happily.

@jowwy

The Synapse was £1099 at the start of the year, i got mine for £999.00

As i said i am more than happy with it as a all year round bike.

Couple of things on it that could be better :-

As has been mentioned, the wheels, they are not bad and mine still run true but i will upgrade them. They are miles better than stock Spesh on my wifes bike tho.

The brakes, they use the same pad as BB5 but the promax are not as good as avids. I find them either a bit grabby on long hills or a bit weak normally. Ive adjusted them a few times and i am not saying they are poor, but another bit worth upgrading (i am thinking BB5 Road).

Other than that, the bikes a bit heavy but again as a all year round didnt bother me.

Two of the people i work with checked my bike out, both ordered the same, both a happy with the bike.

This is mine, the wheels are from DCR. Archetype rims, Novatek hubs, the saddle is a white Romin Expert, as the wheels are blacker than the Maddox's I'm hoping that the white seat brings back some contrast. Am considering black/white bar tape, I couldn't live with myself if I got just white stuff. The Garmin Touring + happens to be black and white, what could I do :-)
