meant to spell it Fulcrum...:whoops:
Are the spokes replaceable if one breaks? Would it be a 'Send away to a specialist' job or could my LBS do that?

Does anyone own a pair of these wheels?
How do you find them?

My interpretation of them from what I've read is that they are made by Campagnolo and are pretty robust...mainly suiting the heavier riders as do the other wheels in the Fulcram range.
Although I'm a light weight at just under 12 stone I'm sure they'll be fine for me.

Many thanks

Steve

Now, 11 - IS light !

I recall when i was 11st. -when I was 18yrs.

These kind of wheels are only made for people not over 12 - 13 stones at that !

I have Fulcrum 5's, am 11 1/2 stone and they've never told me to get off because I'm too fat.

Are you actually asking about F3's or F1's Steven ? You say F1 but the Wiggle link is F3...

I've never bust a spoke, but don't see any particular reason why they should be a send-back-to-factory job to replace, any more than Ksyriums either for that matter.

You'll perhaps find getting hold of the spokes difficult (who stocks them ?) - handbuilt wheels using Sapim or DTSwiss spokes will be far easier (well, quicker) to get fixed

Fulcrum are made by Campag, use same bearings as the equivalent Campag wheels and the hubs are very similar, but they've invented a new Fulcrum brand to sell to people riding Shimano who wouldn't mix-and-match with Campag-branded wheels.

I'm happy with mine, used as sportive and training wheel, taken quite a bit of hammer without any problems.

If you do buy them, the UK importer (Chickens I think ?) stuffs a high RRP on them, you could save quite a bit by looking at Comobike in Italy (use Search - others have recommended them) or from Ireland http://www.cyclesuperstore.ie/shop/pc/viewPrd.asp?idcategory=89&idproduct=4508 - €395.00 (inc P&P to UK) sounds better than Wiggle's £359.99...

Hi Andy,

Cheers for your advise.
I used the Fulcrum 3 link as they said the Fulcrum wheels are robust.....so I'm thinking that if the 3's are and the 5's then the 1's must be too.

They'll be on a bike I've ordered you see.
I was going to buyt the DT Swiss Mon Chasseral wheels for my Felt but as I'm selling the bike I don't need new wheels.

Still it could be worse. My mate has a pair of lightweight carbon wheel and he bust a spoke falling off the bike.....he had to claim off his house contents insurance to get a new wheel as the spoke could not be replaced. ;)

Cheers

Steve

Hello 'stevenb'. I am 14stone and have been using Ksyrium ES wheels for about 3 years!!
No problem with them and they have been hacked down Shropshire lanes with the usual crap and broken surfaces.
I know also that if I do have a broken spoke they have to be returned to the Mavic agent in the UK. I would think the same is true of Fulcrum, as the design is similar, but don't let that put you off!
A lot of scare stories have been propergated by LBS who specialise in building wheels as they see the new generation of pre-built models as a threat to their livelihoods.

:steve - what would you rather have a LBS sort your wheel sin a day probably OR send them off wait a while

Im only backing up what was discussed a while back about hese kind of wheels and the majority had, had spokes snap etc...and most of them where of the weight situation - obviously that not your case BUT if a spoke was to go...you'd need a spare to tie you over and that...

Though those Fulcrum 3's are great: because they have NO eyelets !

Im happy to send them off and wait a while if I have to do so.
I have my other bikes to use until they are sold.

In the future I'd have a spare pair of cheaper wheels, just incase.

I've had a pair of Fulcrum 1's for nearly 2 years now. Also weigh 11.5 stone. I've had 0 probs with the wheels and even had to use them for commuting in london for a bit. They are bombproof, I wouldn't worry about breaking a spoke though to be honest (famous last words). I own a pair of 0's as well, can't recommend Fulcrum's enough really.

Nice one.
Before I decided to get my new bike I was going to upgrade the wheels on my Felt. Fulcram 1's and Zero's were one of my choices amongst the DT Swiss Mon Chasserals.
My mate said his Kysrium Elites were very robust too...and he thought the Fulcrum 1's would be equally as strong.

Peace of mind. (Fingers crossed).;)
