The dead don't know or care, they are dead.

And yes, I've been to, and organised, funerals before anyone gets the hump.

I don't think being in a courtege gives anyone the right to drive without due care and risk hurting others.

I agree on the last part, but disagree with your response on the first part.

True the dead don't know but is that any reason to show them less respect. Would you disrepect their living that may be following behind?

Is your journey more important than their final journey? On that part it comes down to beliefs. Its also the reason I asked how far back the OP was from the hearse.

That was why I said the dead don't care. Funerals are for the living.

Personally my final journey can be to the tip as far as I'll care, I suspect my family and friends will differ.

The point is, this was never about the final journey of the dead person. The hearse was so far ahead it was out of sight. It was someone some way back, in a normal unmarked car, who decided it was more important to keep up, than to look properly and consider other people's safety. I hope when it comes to it, my memory comes to more than keeping a line of cars together neatly.

You do have to have a bit of respect, just take your time(just doing THAT can save a lot of hassle). When my Dad died we walked from his house down the road to the church. The whole village came to a standstill it seemed, could not get 'em all in the church.

There was though, some lack of respect. It was schoolrun time and mums picking up kids BLOCKED the hearse in!My Brother called the law and the local bobby came and issued a ticket or two! Those inconsiderate Gits actually made us late for the crematorium.
