Someone I know was recounting the following funny slip-up they made in conversation. He was talking to a few Germans at a business event and was asking them about their flight. He asked them if they flew with the Luftwaffe and he meant to say Lufthansa. He said the Germans took it quite well and said, "Those days are over now."

I used to work for a German company and they're a bit sensitive about the war.

I remember sitting in the marketing directors office and he was saying ' sales are going like this' thrusting his right arm up at 45 degrees fingers pointed. 'Careful' all the brits chorused. Oh dear, I'm most sorry he replied rather shocked.

The guy who came and stayed in the uk as a manager loved British TV, his favourite being 'Alo 'Alo.

The current German air force is called the 'Luftwaffe'.
