Mrs Uncle Phil and I were heading up through Denmark to catch a ferry to Norway last month. We were having to crack on a bit, because we were running out of time. We were riding recumbents fully loaded with camping gear and quite a bit of winter clothing (she was staying on to work in Norway).

One one day we were astonished to check the computer and find we'd done 109 miles.

When I were nobbut a lad, I used to tour and recorded several days of over 120 miles, but that was a few years back now...

Until this year the longest ride was around 110miles, this year I've ridden over 120 miles 3 times and a 193 mile ride. Enjoyed all of them, looking forward to next year.

I'm not sure on that statement, based on your figures you averaged 17mph for 24 hours, now that is impressive speed...

Yes, it is very impressive indeed at any age! So I am not even going to ask how much older you are than me, it will just be embarassing...

It depends how much (if at all) you are younger than me. But the half-century has passed me by.

My favourite long ride was Calais-Brindisi. A 2600km audax ride over 11 days. I was the first to do the new route in 1998. However, I'm not sure it counts as I got to sleep in a bed every night.

170 miles on my fixed, 200 miles on gears, a couple of years ago. Now on continuous monthly imperial hundred #57.

All done very slowly!

25 miles when I was 15 ish.
Since starting riding again it's probably about 15 miles in 1 go !
I really only get time to ride to work and back and maybe sneak in an hour early mornings.
I think I need to get out at 6am and do a detour to work of 20 to 25 miles.

110 miles at an average of 14.7, which I was pretty pleased with.

I'd have gone round the block a couple of times to get my 300 kms in!

My longest ride was the one I did from Hebden Bridge to Coventry in June 2007 which my GPS clocked at 141 miles (227 km). It wasn't really the distance that made it hard work, it was the fact that half the hills in West Yorkshire and then the entire Peak District got in the way (including Holme Moss and Snake Pass)! 12,500 ft of climbing (4,000 m) with (moderately) loaded panniers on the bike. I felt okay at the end except for having to ride about 10 miles with cramp in my left foot.

A week later I did the return ride but got diverted via the lovely (but evil!) Strines because Snake Pass was closed for resurfacing. I didn't have that route programmed into my GPS so I got a bit lost on the way to Holmfirth and ended up doing close to 150 miles. I was 'a bit tired' after that... ;)

I rode a few audaxes back in the day, and used to commute 50 miles a day. But I think my longest ride was around 135 miles one New Year's Eve, when I rode from Penkridge (near Stafford) to the Lincolnshire coast to go camping with some friends.

108 miles on road, but do I get bonus miles for the 100miler that was off-road?
In my book - definitely!

I reckon each 'proper' (rough 'n hilly) off-road mile is the equivalent of 2 or 3 road miles to the legs and maybe 4 or 5 road miles to the upper body.

This kind of thing is really tiring!
