How much does it cost to Oldham?
Anyone on here from here? Moved over 5ish months ago and looking for riding buddies. Especially if you've got MTB trails in your head for me, but also ride plenty of road. Let us know.

Cheers Norah.I'm in the area but - sadly - long, long past my days of riding hills or even keeping up with 'company' on the flat.
You need to get up into the Bowland fells - I recommend Gisburn Forest and the area around Stocks Reservoir for the more 'formal' type of MTB trail (google it on the FC website - or whatever the Forestry Commission is called nowadays) but there are heaps of bridleways in the Longridge/Chipping/Clitheroe area, which is easy to get to. Where you find people to go with, though, I don't know. There's a cycle club in Garstang so maybe that might help.
Have fun anyway - this is a lovely area for cycling.
Tag us in mate!I'll definitely be seeing you out there for road rides then! Loads of great routes in the Forest of Bowland. I aim to do several forum rides in the area in 2022.
Will do! I think you will remember starting rides from Spring Wood visitor centre above Whalley about 10 years ago? That will probably be the start point again. You could do a full loop with us, or take a shortcut home on the return leg.Tag us in mate!

First one will probably be around the time that the clocks go forwards.
Wonderful thanks! Very helpful.@dan_bo
Much nearer to Garstang than Gisburn et al, there's a bridleway runs along Grizedale, between the reservoir and Nicky Nook; you have a few choices for access and/or return, but the bridleway gives you up to a clear 3 miles off road depending which route you take. The on-road bits are all minute roads too, it's weird because you are literally 500 yards from the M6 at this point on Higher Lane where you turn off onto the B'way.
Also the North Lancashire Bridleway - obvs designed primarily for horseriders but equally accessible to non-motorised 2-wheelers - is a 45km one way route from Caton, just outside Lancaster, to Chipping, obviously you can join it en route or use bits of it - here's a PDF download map and 'tourist' guide.
