+1, I'm disgusted that main stream media (BBC, ITN) were putting those pictures up, their videos are even more gruesome but I thought best not to re-post in the cafe.
+1 I thought wtf have they lost the plot.

It is still murder. You cant justify just because "he deserved it".

Get out of your comfortable UK mindset for a moment and put yourself in the position of those who captured him. This is a man who intimidated, tortured and murdered his way through more than forty years in Libya in order to keep hold of power. If you supported him, you were assured of a reasonable life. If you opposed him - if you even spoke out against him in public - you and your family would be eliminated. And then, on top of all that, he throws his country into a bloody Civil War six months ago, threatening to kill the inhabitants of cities opposed to him 'like rats'. If you had been through that, I think you may have wanted to be the guy who pulled the trigger on Gadaffi.

I think if you read Montyboy's last post properly, you'll see that he acknowledges that very fact.

But it's still murder, that's the cold hard fact. If Gadaffi had been tried and found guilty, then we could dicuss the fine distinction between murder and execution, but he didn't, so murder it is...

I dont think I have a comfortable UK mindset as I have lived and worked in the middle east and do understand a bit of the Arab psyche.

The West backed a rebel group in order to oust a murderer and guess what they did?

There is no such thing as a democracy in the middle east and I doubt there ever will be. Its not a concept they value whilst corruption is not only tolerated but is socially acceptable.

Monty, please accept my apologies for my post, particularly the 'comfortable UK mindset' bit.
I can be a bit of nob at times.

Not at all, no apology required, really.

I like good discussion and if I post an opinion then I dont expect everyone to agree with me. It would be a pretty boring conversation otherwise.

That is the whole point of a forum.

I don't think he is safe: latest reports are that he was injured in a NATO air strike and was in hospital. Believed now to have died from his injuries (unconfirmed). Saif al Islam = Sword of Islam.
