That's putting it mildly!

I had a pair on my winter bike a few years ago, they caused me quite a few skid marks.

I swapped them for Michelin Krylion Carbons, they're a lovely set of tyres.
I really haven't had this. Were you giving it plenty round the corner?

I had a downhill KOM (strava) on these and it had corners and long sweeping bends. Average speed was 29mph in the wet. This was on tarmac. No drain covers etc but i still felt i had total control. I don't get the same feeling as others do. Really weird.

The older I get, the faster I used to be ...
I haven't experienced problems either, but I'm not pushing it.

I found them to be a nightmare in the wet and it really affected my wet cornering confidence until they wore out at 1500 miles and I replaced them with Krylion Carbons.

As Tynan once put it, people either love or hate Gatorskins, I am in the latter camp. They have a very hard casing compared to other tyres so perhaps I ran them too high at 110 PSI (I am 75kgs) and they also made for a very harsh ride but I have no intention of buying another pair to tryout at lower PSI because I reckon there are better tyres available... If I still had them I would be tempted to see how they perform at 85/90 PSI, maybe it would transform the ride?

I run them 95-100 max as the roads around here (Scotland) are unforgiving. I run my tubulars closer to 110.

Though if you are running them on smooth tarmac 110 psi would be a charm. Worth noting i run Vittoria CX corsa's in season, so i do know what a decent handling/rolling tyre feels like. I am not selling them, i am merely someone who advocates them.

I use the foldable Gatorskins in the winter. Great tyre for the ££ and they perform very well. Haven't had the wet issue with them and living in Scotland in winter, most of my riding is in rain or damp conditions. I have heard this complaint several times though.

Anyway even Wiggle are doing the Gator for £23.07. That's £46.14 a pair. I think Wiggle might even be doing (or will be doing) 10-off deals too for xmas. Have to fit them yourself but that's no probs.

Thats what I just payed for my Gatorskins... from wiggle.
