Well, do I commute to work tonight in the gale force winds ??

According to the weather it's about 25mph (probably against me when going to work)

I'm tempted with public transport!

Strong winds are a factor that make me glad I have a recumbent trike. Much more stable in winds and being lower to the ground, plus positioning, makes cycling into a wind a bit easier than when on the uprights, and the three wheels make for better stability anyhow.

Could not wimp out in the car...no fuel ! No problem getting to work this morning because i had a tail wind....got to ride back though and it sounds like it is getting very very windy out there ;)

On the plus point i scalped a Rover 400 going too slow over the speed bumps !!!!

I went out for a ride and was sort of enjoying it in a masochistic way until i ended up getting blown into a ditch. Had to cycle back with the left half my body caked in mud!

The club run was a 'challenge'. With the wind behind, it was easy to keep 30 mph and a delight to climb the hills at over 20 mph. And then, the turn and into wind. I had jumped off the front of the peloton as it was just a little bit too slow for me and had to suffer the 20 miles to home on my own into a fierce wind. I was doing 13 mph. I got to the cafe in Edinburgh at the same time as the group.
I am told that one of the smaller girls was blown off her bike into a hedge. Sometimes, it is nice to have those extra pounds around the waist.

Yeah today was interesting, went shopping as usual on the bike. A careful choice of village gave me a head/tail wind to reduce the side wind gust problem. Basically sprinting into a head wind for almost 7 miles resulted in an ave speed of under 15mph, I was actually accelerating up inclines due to the lowered wind resistance! The return leg with panniers full of shopping was just shy of 25mph ave & topped off with overtaking a group of moped riders going up hill

On the Norfolk cycle chat ride a few of us were on earlier it was very windy!!! I felt like I was going to end up in the road/hedge a few times. At times I had to really lean into the wind.

I heard a great expression for a very strong wind from back in my yacht skippering days - "It was blowing dogs off leads."
