It was quite windy out in London today, enough that I was very glad to be on such a low recumbent. It's surprising how little effect the rear disc wheel has in these sorts of conditions.

Yeah commute took longer today but I must have got caught at every set of lights between here and work and bandit country was in full spring on my 0415 commute...as like tommorow.

fallen tree blocking cycle path into leicester today - not too bad apart from that mind you the route into lesta is fairly sheltered - unlike my commute to coventry - I normally take the car if the wind is 35 mph or more

I managed to do the commute in the wind. Took 10mins longer than normal and the wind was all over the place. One minute I was battling it head on, then it was a superb tail wind. At one point the wind was swirling round me and I felt like I wasn't even moving. Hopefully the wind will have dropped a bit for my commute home tomorrow morning.

When riding into the wind, I just forget about speed. Just drop into a lower gear, and spin. I'll get there when I get there. If I try to keep my speed up to normal, I beat myself to death fighting the wind, and don't get there much sooner, anyway.

I will second the comments made by a couple people about a recumbent, though. I rode my recumbent on a VERY windy ride, and was passing many of the roadbikes. True, I was only doing 8 mph in some places, but they were doing 5! I'm glad I didn't have the "safety bike" on that day!

I managed a 36mph top speed with the wind assisting yesterday

I love it when your going too fast to be overtaken!

Well, do I commute to work tonight in the gale force winds ??

According to the weather it's about 25mph (probably against me when going to work)

I'm tempted with public transport!

Ach, that is just a gentle breeze, wait until the real winter gales get here, it is much more fun...
