Garage security

My garage is part of the house and gives direct access via a locked door.

I consider the inconvenience worthwhile for this reason.

The last time I had a garage to lock up I also had some out of date halon fire extinguishers. They had a long plastic tube on the business end that was meant to go around a track car's engine bay. The idea being that if there was a fire the pipe would melt and spray halon on the relevent bit of the engine.
The pipe was aged and a little brittle so I put a couple of them around the garage door, unorthorised access would fracture the pipe and fill the garage with halon.

I think if I had a garage now I would avoid the up and over type door and have a pair of side hung hard wood doors at would be easier to secure.

I've had bikes stolen when I've used door anchors and ground anchors, the last ground anchors were fixed with chemical anchor bolts! I got a smaller car and now park it inches away from the door, no problems in nearly 5 years.
