It might be my imagination but I'm sure that they used to have more varieties listed but I shall make a disciplined first purchase with some ornamental primulas and mecanopsis betanofilica seeds.

Friday night is party night in the Vernon house.

It's been a gruelling week. I'm having a quiet night in on my lonesome. Younger son left home on Tuesday and wife left with daughter this afternoon. Both offspring are starting university.

I've got the Chilterns Seeds catalogue and this month's Railway Modeller for excitement tonight.

Steak and chips for evening meal.

Crabbies Ginger beer as a beverage.

A perfect evening.


100km Mesh Audax via a couple of butchers tomorrow.

Indonesian meal Sunday.

IIRC a lot of seeds were withdrawn over the last couple of years as part of some international directive. Or was that just fruit and vegetable seeds?

Fruit and veg fell prey to that peculiar directive. It just so happened that the withdrawn varieties were the tastier ones.

The Henry Doubleday Research Association have a seed bank of many of the withdrawn varieties and make them available to its members.
