Thank you Cab (and others) for your advice...much appreciated. I will go thru', read up, diarise etc and get started. If you compare my knowledge of veg growing to someone starting cycling, I'm at the "these are called wheels, and this is the saddle...you sit on it" stage, though when we were kids my dad grew loads of veg (in a much larger plot...helping with weeding was the bane of my early teen years!!).

Cab thanks for the parsnip advicce, I have made all the mistakes you detailed, I will definitely try the pre-germination technique with new seed next year!
