Garmin 800 maps

Hi i purchased a 800 of ebay wrongly thought it had a better map system than the basic any hints ,tips on getting better road network for the UK please

Yes, basecamp is awful.

the os maps
i have that but it came with mine, the only thing is it lies about disance, leicester to stockton on tees, it said i can do that in 147 miles, 168 miles later grrrrr

I'm using the free openstreetmap on mine. 100% fine so far - good for the MTB or the road bike

Quite a few options and varieties of openstreetmaps - you can get openMTBmaps

It's also possible to get the Garmin maps if you know where to look

As marinyork says - talkytoaster for free OSM maps. For on-road riding they haven't let me down. Never used the routing on the 800 though as I always follow routes set up on bikehike.
