Is there a way for me to use my 800 on a turbo trainer to keep a track of exercise duration? I have a hrm that I would use to check the intensity of the workout but not a cadence sensor. When I've tried my garmin goes onto auto pause because it's not picking up any distance travelled. Is there a setting that will allow me to do what I want?
Edit: would I also be able to upload to strava to keep a track of exercise time over the year?

You should be able to turn auto pause off in the settings.
And yes you will be able to uoad to strava.
Cadence sensors are only about £30-40. Could be useful if you follow a plan that specified cadence in conjunction with heart rate.

You can create work outs, folder on 800 already set up. I turn off the GPS as well. V good for creating interval training workouts.

Using it on a trainer you need to turn off GPS, and since you have no speed/cadence sensor then you need to turn off auto pause also (this operates either on GPS signal or speed/cadence sensor). Then just press start at the beginning off your ride, and stop at the end, simples..
Not sure if Strava will allow you to upload a zero distance ride though?
