I've had my Garmin now for just over a year and it has performed very well. It even survived my accident last July, although the plastic casing was partly worn away and the glass of the screen was scratched.

However I went out for a ride yesterday morning and found that the heart rate readings were completely haywire. I recorded a maximum heart rate of 250 BPM and averaged for the whole ride of 53Km 170 BPM.

Has anybody else experienced this and is there anything to do to correct the problem? !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Check it's on correctly. Happened to me the other day, adjusted it and the worked fine for the rest of the ride.

In between here and there
I assume with the better weather it is due to your synthetic top flapping around, all HR straps appear to be prone to this but the ones that suffer the worst are the 100% fabric ones. Tighter top or a bit of lube may help?

I get this with my garmin straps - have hard and soft type, depending on outer garment. Never happens with gore waterproof but softer fabrics do cause this particularly if windy. The other day I put a compression top under fabric outer and it still misbehaved

Yep, it works as soon as I put it on - no need to wait until I start sweating.

Jersey Flap, its a common problem, the garmin is still fine its just the hr sensor that was a bit awry on that ride. Keep the strap tight and lubricated to improve contact.
