Garmin 810 - any experienced users?

Thanks, but theres no routing option on the system menu on the 810

I've found the two routing options under train and race, and turned off the rerouting on both, yet still it tries to take me the quickest route to the finish point. Awful piece of kit - how can it be this difficult to use?

Sorry, I forgot all about this. What format are you using? Are you actually loading a course or just using it like a Satnav and entering a postcode?

The device is very easy to use, I don't really know why you are struggling so much, lol.

Neither do I!

I have uploaded a course. After Saturday's ride, I worked out one of the big problems - the 'avoid' section hadn't been disabled and it was trying to get me off of the main road... so I've sorted that.

But yesterday I did the London to Cambridge ride, and although for large parts it was fine, even at the start it was asking me to do a u-turn to take a canal path (I think), even though that was not remotely what I had mapped and uploaded.

I don't know why it can't just follow the course I have set!

You have pressed the start button right? Otherwise it will try to route you to the start of the course, once you hit start it locks onto the course!

Yeh - I select the course, and it tells me I am near the start of the route, and would it like to start, and I say yes.

Yesterday, after the u-turn incident, it stayed trouble free until the end of the ride. But I don't know whether that's because there were no other options rather than the fact it was working okay!

I think the navigation is excellent, apart from when it's sending me clearly a different way to the course I have mapped.
