Garmin Edge not recognised by PC

Struggling with this one - any help appreciated.

Cycling on Friday was very wet - which I am presuming has caused this problem.. I attach the Garmin to my PC and although it charges, it isn't "found" on the PC to upload rides. I have tried a different cable, different USB ports and even on my wife's laptop, but its the same problem on all. I wondered if water may have got in through the USB socket on the device - I've left it to dry since Friday evening (tried the classic bag of rice route).

But still nothing...

Anyone else had a similar problem or any advice on alternative solutions?!

Leave it on and let it discharge completeley. Give it more time to dry out,and leave the usb flap open. Charge and try again.
The fact you tried another cable and another computer points to the unit.
Hope it's not terminal

Well, it's now been returned to Garmin for them to fix/replace. Left it for a week drying & tried everything I could find on the Garmin forums. Their helpline responded very quickly with some other things to try, but nothing worked. Now having to rely on my iPhone for Strava until it gets fixed!

I had this problem with my 800. It was due to an update. I needed to download a new version of the communicator plug-in. Did this, v easy. now works fine.

Does anyone know if this problem is with the 200 as well?

Update: Exchanged a couple of emails with Garmin early last week & returned the unit to them last Tuesday. Just had a brand new Edge 500 delivered (exactly 7 days since I posted it!). VERY impressed - and now all set for the Exmoor Beast on Sunday

I did buy a second hand Edge 200 off ebay last week (iphone was doing my head in!), just in case it didn't come back for a while - so will look to sell that on (tempted to keep it as a back up, but seems a bit excessive!!)
