I've just heard on R5 about the sudden death of the Welsh footie manager.

So tragic . Great footballer and he was taking the Welsh football team to better things.

Always liked him as a player, was also doing well with the Welsh team

Welsh FA are saying that it appears that he took his own life. So sad

Jesus, that is a shock. Only last Wednesday he was on the panel for the Chelsea Champions League match, he seemed settled in the Wales job and was widely regarded as doing a good job.

This seems so totally senseless; it's difficult to believe. As a Leeds fan, Gary Speed was always one of my favourites, a model professional and now he seemed to have got Wales on the upward curve again. We never really know what is going on in people's heads - this is so sad.

The missus just told me. I'm shocked. Saw the Wales - Norway game a few weeks ago on the box. He looked healthy and was doing a good job.

terrible news. i had the priviledge of watching the great leeds side of the '90s beat us in a cup tie when he was there. always a model pro and a credit to his sport and country, his type are all too rare.
