Well done Gaz, I caught it while flicking around, realised it was you and thought it took some balls.

Hey up all

As you know I've been offline and off the bike for a while dealing with real life rubbish, but it's all been constructive

Having the op gave me the confidence to tackle my eating disorder head on, getting support after my marriage breakdown then meant that I'd beaten 27 years of learned behaviour in a little over 2 weeks, I did say head on :0)

I manged a 30 mile ride at the weekend, but am struggling to commute at the moment owing to living, working and schooling all being spaced out, that'll not last much longer tho, so I'll be back to scalping before too long.

It's been one hell of a ride and I do wish I didn't need to get it all out of tv, but sadly it was that or nothing and as you saw, the op was very much needed, the rest is history.

I'll be back, better than ever in 2013,with proper nutrition I'm looking at racing and taking one some more difficult rides.

For now, there's just time for me to thank each and every one of you for the amazing support you've given over the years.

We watched it. Its the first time we have ever watched Embarrasing Bodies but, after reading Gaz's blog we decided to watch.
I can't really add much to that which other CCers have posted. Gaz is so inspiring!

OH did mention, when the overweight chap was on and being weighed, that maybe this other chap ought to have a chat with Gaz.

Not convinced that gb155 avoided crash dieting and severe calorie restriction, especially with his eating disorder.
I think (correct me if I am wrong, Gaz) that his message is "Do something you enjoy, and that you can fit into your day. Don't give up, and face the challenge head-on." He lost weight because he wanted to. He didn't rebound (like a lot do) because he couldn't get off his bike! :bicycle:

I watched it and can't help but admire Gaz - even if he still (?) admires Lance... ;)

I've not seen the show yet, but we were talking about the show at a band practice last night, positive reports all round (and there are a lot of folk in my band). Our violinist was particularly impressed that she might have seen Gaz's little Gaz.

I'd recorded it and sat and watched it last night - wow, the difference between Gaz with clothes on (you wouldn't know what was going on underneath and that you'd been 40 stone in the past) and Gaz without was startling!!

I bet it was a relief to be rid of the last main physical hangover from the weight loss? Even in simple practical terms I assume it has made life easier and made you feel loads better about yourself?

Cheers,
Shaun

Watched it a couple of nights ago.
Its lovely to see someone so comfortable with having a new body, but the real shock was seeing what was hidden underneath his shirt! OMG!
Gaz - you come across really well on TV - confident but modest, high achieving, but not arrogant, extraordinary, but matter-of-fact. And on your blog you seem to be a man with always a good word to say about someone, always seeing the positive side (with maybe one exception...) Can't think of a bad word to say about you.

Except Man U fan, obviously!

if you don't mind me asking, does Channel4 pay for (or contribute towards) the operations on this programme?
