This should entertain the “it’s a load of crap” merchants.
A bunch of those organisations emailing you to ask for consent were in breach of the regulations for the way they did it - sharing the email addresses of other customers.

No. It’s protecting our right to a private life.
Well I'm sure it's swelled the contacts databases and pockets of lots of 'consultants'. Quite frankly I think the way it's been handled is beyond disgusting.
There's now a lot of well intentioned crap going on created by a lot of confused people.
It's possible for it to be both. It's possible for GDPR to be motivated by genuine and laudable concerns about resetting the whole balance of privacy and data, and still to have been used by the industry that implements it to make more work for themselves than was necessary. If you think that’s what GDPR is about then you clearly don’t understand what it is or what it is for. You might want to try reading a thread where some people who actually understand it explain it - and why it is important.
Not necessarily a breach of GDPR - but pisspoor HR practice...

Was he working at one of those top Secret facilities in New Mexico /My buddy is one of the experts, he fixed a millennium bug in aircraft navigation software ahead of time. Wouldn’t have caused the plane to fall out of the sky, but you wouldn’t choose to have the software fail during flight would you?
