Gear problems

Not only did I survive the 75 miles achieved over the weekend, but amazingly so did Bertha (my bike!). 
I actually seemed to have cured the problems with my gears as (with only the odd exception )they worked so beautifully. However now my front gears are a bit dodgy changing up (from middle to big) They were really difficult by saturday afternoon, but amazingly were not quite so bad yesturday, but they obviously need some attention. However save your advice for now as I do not have time to do anything this week before I go, and Ill never find the thread by the time I get back, so I'll post again then if it's OK with you lot. The problem is though that as I worked through all your advice I'm not sure what it was that actually cured the problem, but at least I did it.
