We were taking my brother to the cinema this evening and upon exiting our junction with the main road, there was an unmarked police car to the left with flashing lights. Our first thoughts were that there had been a crash (there had been one earlier this winter).
As we pulled away (opposite direction), I noticed that there was someone on the floor with a police officer squatting besides him.I then noticed that the police officer had cuffed the guy. My mother thought that someone was injured and on the floor, but he was definately cuffed.

This is the first time that I have actually seen anyone arrested in the area. I suspect that the driver was either drunk (common around here) or that he had tried something with the officers (the reason he is on the floor).

It was causing some problems in the traffic as they had stopped at a pinch point, so everyone had to drive on the wrong side of the island.

Without sounding funny, why do people in the North of England.... and Wales say

'Floor'??

It is the GROUND!!

The floor is INSIDE or part of something like a Balcony, etc, the ground is OUTSIDE!!

So, the thread title should actually read

'Get down on the ground!'

and since when is Wales part of the north of England

I did apologise.

...more like the West Country...bloomin Scots......haven't got their geography right since 14th century..............

I am merely basing my 'North' bit on what the English (not me) say about about places like Manchester, Chester and Liverpool, and basing my 'Wales' bit on the fact that the northern part of it sits next to the aforementioned 'Northern' bits of England like Cheshire etc etc, so there!!
