Agree wholeheartedly that driving whilst using a mobile is just plain wrong but Arch, you're sooo wrong about the petrol station thing.

<snip for brevity>

Why do I know this - 14 years designing mobile devices

Ok. Maybe the guy had your level of knowledge and knew it was quite safe. The fact remains that we are told not to use mobiles at petrol stations, and he was. As he looked about 18, I don't think he'll have 14 years experience of much beyond being toilet trained and drawing with crayons...

I was more concerned about his simultaneous texting and pulling away....

I can never figure out why if you see two people in the front of a car and one of them is on the phone it's always the driver.

Anyway, good on you CP!

Got another tonight. He'd just driven past an overturned car with police, ambulance and trumpton in attendance. He drove up to a R/A I was turning left at, clearly on the phone and no seatbelt.

"Oi, get off the phone" I shouted throught his open window

"What?" he called, phone glued to his ear.

"Don't be such a pillock, now get OFF the phone"

He drove off, presumably embarrassed that he'd been told by a bloke on a bike with a skeleton jacket and dinosoar hat to get off the phone.

I only have a 10 miles a day trip but see about 1-2 drivers on the phone per week, adds up to a lot of pillocks.
Hopefully Darwin's theory of evolution will get them and they will eventually die out as they all crash sooner or later.

1-2 a WEEK? You're lucky - I usually see 1-2 every few minutes over my 10 miles. It's like a disability- people no longer seem able to drive a car unless they're aided by talking on the phone or texting.

Lots of stupid people about on phones still  Well done for giving him a dressing down.

Also saw a guy eating a large bacon bap while driving the other day, can't work out whether it made me a bit angry due to it being dangerous or if I was jealous though.

Didn't the series Mytbusters 'bust' the myth about using mobiles at the petrol station?
Don't know about Mythbusters but Braniac did this

Absolutely. I walked 200 yards down the main entry road to a large housing estate the other week. Seven cars passed me, six of the drivers were on the phone. Presumably they'd left home / the house they'd been visiting just a few minutes before. B)

I was awaiting at a junction with a slow moving queue of traffic going along the main road I wished to cross, when a man stopped his car to let me out. He got most anoyed when I refused and pointed out that he was on the phone. Nothing unusual about that. One week later exactly the same thing with exactly the same man?
