Because an arrogant b*****d got what he deserved and it hopefully knocked his ego down a peg or two. It is people like him that contribute to the decline in quality of life in this country.

Before you go any further I (nor anyone else I suspect) am not claiming that ALL slips/falls on ice are funny.

I actually think you have a very valid point...I support your thinking

however,
I doubt whether the incident actually took place..
it is just too 'pat' 'set up' for effect to be placed on a God cycle commuter site and be believable.
it is far fetched to think any moton will bother his arse even to get out of his godamn car for any reason especially for a sub species like cyclists.

Yes then you might have sen the baby or the sick person in the car he was taking to hospital you dont ride off and leave someone on the floor.

If there was a sick person in the car then why would you get out of a car to tell a cyclist to get onto a cycle path. Even if the person had been under a mistaken impression that cyclists should be on a cycle path (ice or no-ice), there was no need to be abusive in the first place when trying to get his point across.

A lot of cyclists experience rude/abusive/dangerous behaviour from drivers - it is rare that we see any form of come back for that individual. That's why people have enjoyed this post - instant retribution. As for whether I would go and check the individual was ok - well if he has already been abusive and shouting at me I don't think I'm that keen on finding out - I would be more likely to want to get as far away as possible before he was back in his car.

Seems feasible to me. I've had motons get out and yell, even assault me, over similar incidents, without any hint of egging on from me. Multiply that up by lots of cyclists posting here... Why ever shouldn't it be be true?

And more importantly, someone getting out of their car like that is seeking to escalate a confrontation. To risk a physical confrontation like that is intimidation; it is, in every way, wrong. For him to fall flat on his arse isn't just poetic justice, its probably the safest resolution for the cyclist.

There are occasions in life where someones action makes them the 'bad guy', and the person they're victimising becomes the 'good guy'. Times when someone is acting in a way that is, beyond reasonable dispute, immoral. And when a bad guy gets his comeuppance thats something to celebrate.

Yep. Get to a safe distance and look to see if he's got up maybe, and if he doesn't call an ambulance. But if the guy got out of his car looking for trouble, frankly, theres no way on earth I'm putting myself at risk for him.

lukesdad is entitled to his opinion and it's good that he's getting his point across. Personally I'd have laughed at the guy when he fell over. That wouldn't have been the right thing to do but I suspect that at the time that's what I'd have done.

As for those who are negative about this; it was the drivers choice to get angry and be abusive. It was his choice to leave the safety of his car to continue the abuse of the cyclist, it was the drivers fault that he slipped and fell on his ar$e. As others have said, poetic justice.

I must admit had I been there, I might have stayed a little longer. Partly to make sure he was ok, but mainly to continue gently rubbing salt into his wounded pride!
