I've seen Humber cars with wood panelling on them which I thought would be rather cool, but probably a nightmare to keep good.

No no, they aren't that stupid, they notice things, they notice EVERYTHING!

Seriously, I don't see the problem.
If it's cheap, I just buy it (bar tapes, inner tubes, tyres) and if it's expensive (carbon frames, weekends in France) we discuss it. She doesn't run it past me every time she gets a pair of shoes or a new top, I don't need to ask permission for new lycra.

I only have 3 currently, the Felt, the Pug and the Raleigh which is in bits ready to be rebuilt again. The rest of the family have 3 between them, so I am already going to overtake them with the Humber.

we both have our 'own' money as well as the 'joint' money & dont really bother what each other spend, but i've just been on a mini tour for 3 days & spent a little more than normal on new stuff before the tour. Thought I'd got away with it till on arrival back home one of the boys noticed I had new cycling shoes on. "when did you get your new shoes?"

I am married -second time around - to a gorgeous woman 15 years younger than me.
We have 3-kids, I am the chief-fundraiser and my wife is head of finance, however, I have 3 bikes and loadsa kit.
My wife has loadsa running gear and we have loadsa gadgets.
Yes, now n again I get the "why do you want more tyres/wheels/shoes/gloves/tools/parts" etc but being a man's man... I order it online n get it delivered to work. That way she finds out after the fact.
