Getting crank off

How do i these cranks off, i have a halfords tool that ive used in the past with these cranks have a hole through the centre so the tool doesn't work!

Yes it does say octalink

It's an octalink so that puller should work. Have you tried it?

You need an extractor with a slightly wider 'head' than is on a square taper extractor

That head already looks pretty wide.

Its got a smaller insert and a larger one, the smaller one just goes in with no resistance behind it, the larger one seemed like it fit better but i didntvwant to force it as i wasnt sure if itvwas pushing against anything or if it was pushing on the little tabs inside the crank arm if that makes sence

Yeah its doesn't quite, tiny bit pushing against them

Shimano make in insert to drop in the axel so any normal crank remover works OK. It's easier than trying o find an extractor that not too big to too small

Alternatively as a work around you could try is a nut that just fits inside the opening, you should then use the smaller end.

Thanks, got it off! Used the bigger end i just had to be more forceful with it.

Probably never been off in its life!

That's what they do here. My local repair guy had never seen an extracter until I gave him one.
