Getting ready...

I'm just about ready to get out on the bike now, after a very long time away from it, so I'm classing myself as a beginner!
My poor steed has lain in the shed for, ummmm, too many years, unused due to illness.
I have even ordered a new Bern helmet and I only need to clean the chain now - that's today's task!

I can't wait! I shall no doubt return with questions galore...

Hiya, and welcome from Crieff in Perthshire. Not that far away. Like your bike. I quite fancy getting a mountain bike for the mucky roads and exploring some of the trails around here too but I never seem to have any spare cash. I keep checking the usual ebay and gumtree in the hope of finding a bargain Take it easy when you start getting back out again. It's too easy to try and do much too soon sometimes. Look forward to hearing how you get on.

I've had that bike for a good few years now and when I was able to race it up and down hills, it performed quite well. The downside is that it's a heavy beast!
I have balance problems (dyspraxia) and have found myself in a heap, with it on top of me, more than once!
I'm going to see how I do this time round (although there will be no more playing silly b*****s up and down hills!)
I may end up getting something lighter but I'm going to change the tyres for now and see how I go!
I will keep you all updated
