Now I've kinda found my bearings (as it were) thought I'd branch out now from the Welcome Mat and come join in the conversations here in the Cafe.

Special note for Dave_widnes
Ooops  Sorry David_widnes

Clicked on Add Reply instead of just typing........hope I'm forgiven given I'm new to all this forum millarky!! I will get the hang of it eventually. I guess I just need more practice.

Anyway just wanted to say thank you all for your kind words of welcome and I'm taking on board some of your advice and comments to keep me going through the week.

This week on my way to work I've been wet, too warm, drenched, knackered, tooted at, shouted at and I even got 'a finger' sign from a white van driver for being in the cycle lane........life is tough. Not so hot on remembering number plates so think I might start riding with a camera and tape all this crap!!

What's been happening to you guys this week?

I've had a few good rides (on my bike bicycle). Lots off hilly off road stuff in training for the next MTB Marathon. Am taking my Step Dad to see his brother today so will be in a car instead. I promise not to give the finger to any cyclists unless they are suicidal bell ends

Took the bike out and went for a bimble with a few mates to the seaside and had a couple of beers - not much really.
The Bimble to the Mumbles.

If you say it fast enough and it doesn't sound too bad. It's only when you start thinking that you took the bike out in West London and the seaside was in south Wales that it starts to hurt the thighs.

Just normal routine, cycled to and from work Monday to Friday, routine stuff I've been doing for years nothing exciting and nothing to report. Today is a rest Sunday, no hurtling round the country side with the club

I haven't been out on my bike much this year. Never done more than 25 miles.

Took it upon myself to do my first Audax of the season (started last November) and knocked off 115km in six and three quarter hours including breaks.

I had a transit driver try and put his van between me and the car in front - I wasn't having any of it as I was matching the car's speed doing about 30.

I was behind a car at lights, van behind me, we set off and the van's giving it beans - the driver in front was just driving normally, so as it's a slight down hill, I'm easily matching the car. Driver of van is revving it to death trying to pass me...it's not happening as the van won't fit in the gap between me and the car in front.

Van couldn't pass - he was getting slightly 'hissed' - of course we come up to the usual traffic jam, so I punch the pedals and I take off in front of him, then down the outside of the traffic queue. Bye.

He passes on the climb home, giving me the evils in his side mirror, so I just shake my head. He's then stuck in traffic at the top, leaning out of his window looking for me. I pop up the inside and I'm now gone through the traffic.

Driver was on one more stressed out session to a coronary !

Decided yesterday to cut the "lawn". When I looked into the in use compost bin it was full to the top as was the ready to use one. So I spent all day digging out the ready to use one and spreading it on the garden then turning the in use one into the empty bin to become ready to use in about three months time. Then today cut the "lawn" and started the composting process all over again.
