Ghosts, strange powers, a simple reason, what`s going on??.........

Can anybody explain this one?

I use my hardtail mtb for my daily commute, and I use my "old" things to kit it out with. Cut a long story short, a couple of months ago I put my old Cateye magnetic bike computer on it (I only use the Garmin for my road rides).

Mods......I didn`t think of this as a "general cycling" post, it`s just slightly related Sorry if I`m wrong.

Anyway, I ride home along an old railway which includes two longish tunnels, the first one is meant to be as haunted as haunted gets. I`m not one to believe in all this supernatural stuff, but what is happening every day on the way home is making my hair stand on end

Every single time I cross the threshold of this supposedly haunted tunnel, my bike computer stops registering and just reads zero, bearing in mind it`s magnetic, and aren`t these strange "powers" supposed to be detected by magnetic detectors? As soon as I leave the other end I get my speed back, wtf??

Can anybody come up with a logical reason for this? I`ve never been taken in by all this stuff but this is seriously odd!!

No! As soon as I cross the line, my speed is gone, and comes back as soon as I emerge from the other end!!

Showing zero for all the time I am inside. If it was gps I could understand it, but it isn`t!

Did you have your lights on in the tunnel? My hub Dynamo Light sometimes interferes with the signal to my cateye and it goes to zero. I have heard of other lights affecting computers.

I don't buy into the supernatural stuff but I did see something I can't really explain a year or so back. The field behind our house is massive, and you sometimes see folks on there checking the beet etc. Anyways one day I saw a guy in black, bang in the middle of the field, I thought nothing of it and looked away. Then, just seconds later I looked back and he'd gone. Not a sign. I'm pretty sure there's no way he could have got to the hedgerow and out of sight in that short time. And no I wasn't pished!

You joke about it, a few years ago at the very same spot there were a crowd of people stood by it with baseball bats! They didn`t do any of us any harm, but that was equally as odd!!

Actually Speccy it's not so odd, there's a similar phenomenon in Sweden that happens to cars, here....

No don`t use my lights because it`s lit. So is the other one, nearer home, and the speed sensor is fine in there

Yes!! It`s old, magnetic, it has a magnet bolted to the wheel.............

Maybe the tunnel is constructed with iron, which is affecting the magnets in some way.

Or it could just be ghosts!
