Hello got a giant defy 1 2013 and need some new tyres.. Think conti's might splash out on 4000s but wondering if I should replace the standard 23 mm with 25?

Thoughts? Will they fit?

There's not much difference so they should fit.

I started out with 23s on my Defy but went to 25s for a while. Having just hit two potholes in two days and had blowouts on some new (now ruined) 23 inch Esprit Esquires, I have reverted back to more sturdy 25s, they offer me more protection on the rubbish roads here IMO.

25 tyres will be ok on my standard defy rims??

Yep.

2mm won't matter to the rim integrity etc. But they could be a shade more comfy. Saying that, Conti tyres often come up narrower than their marking. So maybe not!

My Michelin Pro4 Endurance 25s, on my Giant Defy, are comfy.

Hi,

You hardly ever need new and rear tyres at the same time. You usually
need a new rear, so fit the front to the rear and fit the new tyre front.
Rinse and repeat, old front to the rear, new tyre on the front.

Go to 25mm, its just more sensible.

rgds, sreten.

Rear tyres wear about 3 times faster than the front,
and you always want your best tyre on the front.
