Giant Defy 1 - Where to buy from?

hi all

so ive been thinking and have now cancelled my order for the Moser Speed i ordered start of the week.

after doing alot of reading it seems the Defy 1 gets alot of praise on here and also in many reviews too.

going to try get to a EBC today to have a sit on one and if it fits good id like to order one online at the best price.

anyone know of any deals going at the moment? i dont need any spd pedals as i have them already, max budget is £1000 but of course cheaper the better and would like 105 groupset

or are there any other bikes i should be looking at? not too aggressive geometry though

I'd buy locally, as much for getting the free 6 weeks check and ease of making any adjustments that will likely be needed

Ask EBC if they can do anything on the price, rather than just taking up their time and then buying elsewhere As a now replaced model, they may be happy to negotiate a bit

I don't know of anywhere cheaper than Ashcycles, but they are very far from you in case of issues

That said EBC only have the small and large on their site - how tall are you? I would say if between 5'5 and 6'2, you'll want a different size most likely (M or M/L)

173cm tall, 31" inside leg

i will need a Medium size and would like it in white, not too fond of the 2014 colours to be honest.

il have to call around to find stock it seems

There is a Giant store in Liverpool

EBC may be able to source one for you, if they don't have on the shop floor

Probably other retailers near you, Cyclesurgery sell Giant for example

Now if you want to spend the full grand, you could get the TCR 105

The 2014 defy in the blue is a lovely looking bike (then I like bright colours, black is anathema)

The blue one is nice but it needs a white saddle.

just been into to my LBS on way to work

they only had Black Defy 1 2014 M/L on display, sat on it and confirmed Medium is for me, it felt/looked good.

Still don't know about the black colour though, would prefer the white 2013 which they didn't have in stock.

will be going to Cyclesurgery at lunch to have a look.

CS also do cube and orbea which may be worth a look. I think they have a price match policy like Evans

went to CS at lunch, they had no Defy 1 in stock at all

they said they could get one in for me to try but wanted 10% deposited

i messaged AshCycles via Facebook this morning, they have Medium in stock and will get sent Monday for Tuesday delivery if i order today

just waiting on confirmation of my wiggle order has been cancelled for the Moser.

bit of drama, wiggle has already sent out the Moser i ordered on 15th July, they said they sent it yesterday but the tracking says awaiting despatch?? so they said to refuse delivery and they will get it all refunded.

cant go anywhere as i have spd pedals but no spd shoes (just ordered today for delivery tomorrow)

just setting it up, the drops have me confused a little, do i leave it at 0 alignment? (0 line going through the stem)

I think they should be tipped up a bit. Sit on it and see what's comfortable. I think you be overstretched like that
