Giant Defy 4 v Cannondale Synapse 2300?

I'm still not fully decided that I'm going to go 'Road' as opposed to 'Hybrid' next year, but I'm leaning towards road just now. I've seen these 2 bikes which I'm interested in (as long as Halfords can source them).

To me they are much the same, the defy reviews are excellent, but the cannondale is supposed to have the better frame. At that price point i would be looking to buy used imo.

Giant spec seems to be slightly better, but otherwise they are comparable. The gearing on the Giant is much more beginner friendly though.

Try both, buy whichever one feels better for you .

If I'm not mistaken OP intends to use the C2W scheme and I believe halfords source other brands.

I have a boardman, cracking bikes but the 2014 entry level sport has a alloy fork and the next one up is another £100 on top of the price of the 2 bikes the OP listed and you still only get 9 speed sora .

Yes they can, although you will full rrp for it , i looked into it myself and went for a boardman at the time.

Correct. I've been looking at the Boardmans (if I go hybrid, it'll be a Boardman), but Halfords do source from other shops, so I should be able to get these!
