Giant Fastroad Comax...........any thoughts (see link).

At just over a £1000.00 it looks (on paper) quite good (relative to whats on offer from other manufacturers).
My lbs will only get it in to order.
I phoned the Giant concept store in Liverpool and they are not planning to stock it.
Another Giant stockist will be getting one in but (and this is genuine) the guy I spoke to told me "not to touch it"
He told me the frame is carbon mixed with plastic and........in his opinion......wont be around in a year's time.

I have googled it and not found any reviews.

What are your thoughts?

Hmm, standard carbon fibre is carbon mixed with resin, and that isn't a problem ...

Comax sounds quite interesting!

It's an interesting looking thing, but I'm not 100% sure where to place it in Giants lineup...

It has echoes of the drop-bar Anyroad (which is, surprisingly, very heavy!), but then they also do the flat-bar Rapid which has rack mounts that make it more versatile..

I'll go for it being a carbon flat-bar road bike, which hopefully means it will be competitive on weight with the carbon Defys

I like the look of it and will take a ride over to see it in the flesh.
Just found it worrying that the salesman should try and put me off it saying........he doesn't think it will be around (in production) for more than a year.
I can't see a big company like Giant going to all that cost without some confidence in the product.

Perhaps the salesman just doesn't think it will do well based on his knowledge of Giant sales trends, who knows?

Just spoke to the "owner" of the store that was supposed to be getting them in...........he has decided against it. Says he has seen them at a show and they are heavy and over priced.
