Finallt decided I shall never throw myself down a mountain, and so decided to make the mtb more rideable on a day to day basis.

So off with the nasty Suntour XTC suspension forks, off with the 26x1.7'ish semi slicks, and on with a Salsa CroMoto front fork, and a pair of Continental SportContact 26x1.3's.

The toughest part was cutting the steerer tube down, sheeeesh 8 hacksaw blades bit the dust!!!

But all done, have taken it for a little spin and it is much smoother, much lighter/friskier feeling and definitely a fair bit quicker.
Very pleased with the transformation - time to put the rack back on now.

Awwww...why not? You'd probably love it. And now you'll never know..

But it looks pretty good. And at least it's a proper bike..:laugh:

hahaha don't bank on it, and I mostly ride the Trek at the moment, so plenty of 40mph downhills to risk my face on

Eight hacksaw blades? ;) You do know you fit them into a frame and then cut the tube, don't you?
Either that or borrow someone's 4.5" grindette with a 0.8mm thick cutting disc fitted in it, much quicker and less hassle.
