Had a defy 4 since January and love it !
I have the shimano 2300 group set on mine but I have just ordered new Claris shifters , derrailliers and brake pads.
Great bike but change the pads ASAP.

Giant over Ribble every time in my opinion. I don't trust the durability of Ribble's frames after seeing one fall apart in one of magnatom's vids. Blog post about it here:

Giant Defy is always voted best in class. Will certainly be next bike purchase.

And what did you change your pads to?

I replaced the calipers and pads with Shimano 105 and they were a vast improvement. Only needed pads really but wanted the calipers to match!

It's not a Defy, but on my Giant SCR2, I put Fibrax Xtreme pads up front, and dual compound Kool-Stops at the back.

I recently bought a defy composite 2 and it is brilliant. I hear far too many quality and warranty stories about Ribble.
