I can't see me riding my Carbon Racer through the winter, so I'm looking for a bike which will run and run with little or no maintenance.

The Giant Seek 0 looks a good option, or do I stick with what I know and look at the Boardman CX range?

For a winter hack I'd want full mudguards, and from the picture at least it looks like it could be difficult fitting them on the Seek - shame because otherwise it really is a super looking bike.

If low maintenance is no. 1 priority I'd go for something like either the Trek Soho or the Charge Mixer, alternatively there's a cracking deal available at the moment on the Carrera Subway 8.

The giant is nice, too nice for a winter hack.

As Jim says the Subway 8 is bargain if it's your size. Alfine bikes are usually £700+, think Halfords have it for £400 at the moment

Singlespeed anyone?

Just picked up a Genesis Day One Single CX bike

Tons of room for big winter tyres and 'guards. Comes with 42:18 gears which with 28mm tyres, yields a 63inch gear.

Hi. I have a Giant Crs 0 which i think was replaced by the seek range. I've used mine during the winter and it's been very reliable. I put 32mm Marathons, rear rack and full mudguards on and it still felt very sprightly for my commute to work.
