I've been going through a really bad time over the last few years. 6 weeks ago I lost it completely , my HR department and Occupational health stepped up to the plate and helped me big time . I'm a bloke and the two in question are very helpful ladies.
I want to show my appreciation of their help , despite it being part of their job , with a thoughtful gift . Obviously not big bouquet of flowers or chocolates delivered to work .
Suggestions please thanks in advance

Perhaps a thoughtfully penned appreciative letter would be better than a gift in the circumstances?

Wot rocky said, I must learn to type faster:smile:.

Bottle of wine usually does OK. They can be a bit like beer tokens - if your recipient is teetotal, then they can be passed on as a present to someone else. Just make sure that it is a half-decent bottle.

As others have said, a card with a meaningful message is best.

I don't know what I'm talking about, but does the company have a policy on gifts of any kind being unwelcome - at my company any gifts given have to be put into the Christmas raffle.

Exactly what I was going to suggest - a gift is an easy thing to do a personal card is just that, personal and is hard to do and so means far more.

Bad form replying to my own post but....

About 15 years ago, a teacher went the extra mile in getting my bright but lazy daughter to work at school. The switch in her head flicked and i sent in a nice card saying thank you. The next day the head came to me and said the teacher had been so proud to receive the card and how rare it was to receive letters of praise rather than complaint.

Similar experince a year later when i wrote to hospital chief exec asking him to pass on my thanks to a male nurse on the kids ward who had been so good to same daughter with a broken wrist. He too said praise letters are very rare.

Saying thank you is far more valued than any gift. And lasts longer than any material gift.

Bimble

Bimbling along ...
If they've just been "doing their job" (and it seems like they've done an excellent job) then they'll be both surprised and very grateful to receive cards with written personal thanks; such things are rare nowadays. They'll probably also remember them fondly for years to come too. Go for it - you'll make their day!

If you still want to buy them a gift, what about a voucher for afternoon tea somewhere.
Exactly the lines I was thinking. If the ladies get on with each other, then maybe even a voucher for a nice local restaurant for them to have lunch together on a work day.

But agree with everything above. The letter is more important. Makes me feel bad I just dropped of choccies to thank the A&E nurses.

Absolutely.
Well said.
I know it has made my day when someone has appreciated my efforts in helping them ,when really I just think I'm doing my job.
It sets me up for the rest of the day.

Another good suggestion.
There is nothing I like more than a nice cuppa and possibly a cake to refresh my day.A lot of people think so too.
