Hi,

Has anybody managed to replace broken Roc Loc 5 Air+ fit system of Giro Aries Spherical helmet? Spare part seems to be widely available but how to figure out with left strap? Straps go through a loop of fit system in the back and therefore needs to be opened to be able to replace the fit system. Right strap is easy as it can be easily opened by removing the buckles but left one needs to be detached from the helmet. And I have not managed to find out how. Have been searching for instructions and videos but all that I found are of different helmet models.

The left strap on the Aries is a known headache. It’s threaded through a fixed anchor point inside the foam. You must carefully unpick the small rubber retaining tab/plug that covers the strap anchor inside the helmet. Once you peel that back, you’ll see the strap looped and stitched. You have to cut that stitch to free the strap. Replace the Roc Loc, then re-sew the strap securely and glue the rubber tab back over. It’s fussy and means the strap is permanently shortened a tiny bit. Many just take it to a bike shop for the job.
