Chances of that stage going ahead in full and not getting cancelled / shortened due to weather? They definitely seem to have gone out of their way to offer something next year's Tour isn't.

Definitely not a corsa for anyone who's explicitly aiming to complete a Giro-Tour double.

Looks more like they've decided to create a route true to their history and brand. I like it.

No issues with the Mortirolo. Gavia might be an issue, but it gave us the iconic photo of Andy Hampsted on his way to winning the Giro in the snowstorm.

Pinning their hopes on global warming?
At least someone is trying to find a silver lining.

Different times. It feels like most stages with a climb of that altitude have been curtailed in recent years (reality is probably it has only been a few but they get noticed).

That's an horrific stage. Assuming they go up the really nasty super steep ascent of the Mortirolo.
Will they use the new bike path or the tunnel on the Gavia?

Steep side first from Mazzo then the Gavia to Bormio. Road will be closed so it will be the tunnel. 2nd ascent is from Grosio so shallower gradient 9% instead of 11 but still the same last 20% of the climb. Good news is it's all downhill to the start of the second ascent. Hard day at the office tho

I did the ascent from Valtellina in June and from Grosotto in September.
I can confirm that from Valtellina is harder but from Grosotto is no picnic either with some steep sections.
