You need to pick your glacier - preferably one without any crevasses!!!

Yep, I think the galacier and the racing would put me off.

Using the service tracks, the roads by which the lift stations and mountain restaurants are supplied, looks more likely. They seem to use either the fat tyres or tyres with ice spikes. More sedate anyway.

I remember ski bobs but have never seen a cross between them and a bike. Lots of people who live in the alps use e-bikes to nip into the valley to do their shopping, using the motor to get them back up the side of the mountain. Then they can charge it up at home. Ski bobs are of course great for downhill but they are difficult to control. I should imagine that device is better and of course, will allow someone to pedal uphill. Perhaps the intention is to develop it with an electric drive. There are all sorts of strange vehicles that one sees in the alps. I was a bit surprised to see this electric scooter:

I guess if you were in Sweden, you'd have a skidoo but in the alps, you only want short journeys and the snow on the roads is too thin a layer for them. You want large areas of deep snow, not three inches of snow ice and grit.

Don't mean to be a douche but it looks fun once, but honestly half way down you're going to think "this would be so much better on skis".

Fresh piste, carve that mofo up and leave those bikers for dust.

Well true, ski bobs were the original bike type replacement for skis but they never really took off and have been totally eclipsed by the surfboard adapted for the ski slopes. I always preferred skiing but nowI am getting older and frailer I can't really do anything much other than walking in the winter alps. I would be tempted to have a go at those bikes with the fat tyres though, just hopping from one restaurant to the next. That does look like fun. Many of the gondolas have hooks or racks for bikes now as they are used for summer mountain biking.
