Random question:
Anyone here knows anything about glazing? Particularly with respect to optical distortions, colour diffaction effects and transmittive colours? And could point me to a suitable resource (book or internet) where I could read up?

Specifically windscreen glazing, although I guess the theory used in lenses (spectacles, binoculars, cameras) might be useful.

Thanks, Classic. The first link is the more useful. I might be asking a question about laminated glass.
I'm having to assess a windscreen for effects which might cause confusion for the driver, i.e distortions of various types. The windscreen is not new (the vehicle isn't), and usually we get these assessments from the glass manufacturer. In this case, the windscreen is flat, and without any tinting. Therefore I would have thought that no assessment is necessary, whereas one for a curved windscreen might. However since I don't know the cause and solution of these effects, I'm not in a position to make any professional assessment.
