Light neoprene divers gloves. Inexpensive, available in various thicknesses, warm, windproof.
I've used neoprene ones bought some years ago from Lidl for a tenner and they've been great but sadly they've now worn out. Bought a new pair online from a company named Osprey for £16 that are 3mm neoprene which appear good quality but their sizes are way off the mark so if you buy from them make sure you buy at least one size bigger than you'd normally buy. Mine are, let's say, snug. You need a bit of room in them to stop the finger tips from getting cold. My old ones were ok down to maybe 6C. Used the new ones today but I'm pretty sure I was at the temperature limit, about 8C, due to the tight fit. They do look good though lol.

If they're for underwater though, I guess they aren't 'breathable' so my hands would get quite sweaty? (I know nothing about diving clobber.)

They thick ones can make you sweet like Cliff Richard at a helicopter show, but the thinner ones keep a more reasonable temperature. Because they're windproof thin ones do very nicely.
