i NEED gloves, i couldn't type when i got in after the commute today and my hands were properly numb. it really has gotten chilly now that the sun is down at this sort of time.
the usual criteria with me, on a budget but still good quality
really need to be full finger but no need for ski gloves

Try these from Planet X. Cheap as chips, reasonably stylish, & do the job. Had mine on today and fingers were comfortable at a temp of around 5C in damp & misty conditions. You might need something a bit warmer for lower temperatures though.

I use something like those and some cotton liner gloves underneath, these can be slipped off if my hands get too hot.

Depending on the temperature the ones from Aldi/ Lidl seem to do the job ok- I have 3 pairs of winter gloves depending on coldness/ wetness- with my sealskinz only getting a few outings a year.

After long service and some noticeable wear I set my Lidl gloves aside and bought a more expensive pair .
Just as well I had only set aside my Lidl gloves as they were soon back in service after the more expensive ones failed.

not sure, never had cycling gloves
for those latex surgical type gloves a medium is tight but fits properly and a large is slightly wellll large!

In cold weather I wear cheap outdoor gloves from Decathlon. Not cycling specific and cheap enough to lose. When really cold I wear silk liner gloves underneath. No complaints at all.

I've also bought a pair of those daft looking lobster gloves from Aldi, but not tried them yet.

I also wore my (expensive) down arctic mitts on a very cold FNRttC once. Toasty but too clumsy.

I have some brand new Altura gloves spare, but they are XL or even XXL so probably going to be too big

Man up ed or get modern with heated handlebars - heat generated from pedaling although you probably don't go fast enough

Aldi's £4.99 winter cycling gloves take a lot of beating, in my experience. Maybe your local one will still have stock - pretty sure mine does.

very kind of you, used the latex gloves again today when mending a flat and mickeling and i found the large are fine if anything ever so slightly tight actually so i reckon i will order a pair of cheap gloves in large soon

I currently have Altura progel gloves for colder days. Nice and warm but not too bulky.
Had Sealskinz before this and they were great in very cold weather but a bit sweaty if temp was not freezing.
Could try silk "liner" gloves, no experience of these but read good reviews.
