Is it weird to feel their extremely annoying advertising has the adverse effect on me? I feel that I will never use that comparison website, for as long as I live.

What are people sanctioning the advertising campaign thinking about? Let's annoy them till they buy?

You may have the wit and desire to actively not use them. But for many many more people, when they think of using a price comparison site, their brains will simply chug through the names they've half heard in adverts.. Meerkats, GoCompare, Confused... If GoCompare happens to be the first one they look up, or the one they use, the ad works.

It might not be '1977' () but at least we had decent adverts:

Shake and Vac, Milk Tray Man, Black Magic, Cinzano, Brut 33, Green Cross Code, et al..........

Nowadays the adverts are rife with companies selling products that (if you own a car) you are legally obliged to purchase....ie, a captive market.
